Great British Party Ideas

Great British Party Ideas

This June we have a cracking long weekend coming up all thanks to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and what better way to spend the weekend other than having a party? (Especially after two years of lockdowns)  Here’s some Great British Party ideas to get you in the spirit this bank holiday weekend.

Host a Street Party

This is the classic ‘there’s a royal family celebration’ activity. Most roads you will have to apply to have closed for the day via your local council. But what a great reason to meet your neighbours, pop up the bunting and start serving some Pimms!

Watch the Platinum Party at the Palace

Every Jubilee, Buckingham Palace plays host to a concert featuring a range of musicians. This is such a fun way to celebrate the Jubilee. The concert will be aired live on TV so you host a party as yours, get the event up on the screen and spend the afternoon singing away! If hosting isn’t your thing – there will be big screens scattered across some of London’s parks, grab and picnic rug and go join the party!

Host a gin tasting party

You don’t get much more British than a G&T – so why don’t you host a gin tasting party? Ask guests to to bring a different type of gin, a tonic and fruits to garnish. You can do a ‘come dine with me’ style voting for the best G&T combo. If gin isn’t your thing – do the same thing but with tea.

BBQ

What’s a Bank Holiday in the summer without a BBQ – and this time we’ve got four says to fill – one day must be spent by the grill! Get the buns, the sauce, the playlist and spend the day sipping beers in the garden!

Picnic

Here in the UK we are so lucky to have so many beautiful open spaces. Pop down to your local park, or travel out to a national trust park and get the picnic rug out. Bring as many colourful cakes as possible and don’t forget the cucumber sandwiches! Oh, and your speaker.

Just a visit a good old fashioned pub

Ok no points for originality on this suggestion – BUT at the time of writing this blog, there is a consultation to approve pubs being open for an extra 2 hours over the Queen’s Jubilee Weekend, so if this gets approved – why not make the most of the extra time in your favourite boozer?

Here at PopUp Painting and London Art Bar we have a range of fantastic Jubilee events, such as paint a Corgi or a tea blending workshop.
