We ran 10 famous portraits through the FaceApp and the results were… interesting

FaceApp is taking the world by storm, so we decided to run some of the world’s most famous portraits through it

The results were really… something. What’s your fave?

1. Van Gogh, Self Portrait (1889)

Van Gogh’s beautiful brush strokes seem to have protected him from the worst of the FaceApp!

2. Johannes Vermeer, Girl with Peal Earring (1665)

Not too bad!

3. Frida Kahlo, Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird (1940)

We’re so sorry, Frida.

4. Grant Wood, American Gothic (1930)

Okay. These two don’t look *that* different from the original.

5. Pablo Picasso, Self Portrait (1901)

This self portrait is from Picasso’s ‘Blue Period’, and the filter makes an already kind of sad painting even sadder.

6. Gustave Courbet, The Desperate Man, (1844-45)

The face you pull when you run your all-time-best selfie through the App, and are horrified by the result.

7. Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa (1503)

Mona Lisa doesn’t look *too* impressed.

8. Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, Self Portrait in Straw Hat, 1782

When you’re sat too long waiting for your portrait to be finished.

9. Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe (1962)

A tricky one, as the original is a screen print, so missing a lot of features. The result makes Marilyn look a bit smudgy!

10. Gilbert Stuart, George Washington (1815)

Mr. President, Sir, you have become a potato.

What’s your favourite?
