It’s the city whose artists have produced the most number 1 hits thanartists from any other location as declared in The Guinness Book of Records but as you’ll see below that’s not all Liverpool has achieved!

1. Scouse is actually a type of Stew!

Commonly used to reference the  dialect  and a term for the natives, ‘Lobscouse’ is a type of meat stew.  Introduced by sailors, it was eaten by Liverpudlians living in poverty before the 1900s and It is still enjoyed today!

2. Liverpool has produced a lot of ‘firsts’!

It’s not just Premier league football and No 1 hits!  Liverpool produced the England”s first lending library, the world’s first school for tropical medicine and also England’s first school for the blind (and second in the world)!

3. Liverpool is England’s Finest Victorian City

..as described by English Heritage, Liverpool has the most number of Grade II listed buildings in the UK outside of London.
It also built the UK’s first skyscraper, the famous Liver building, built in 1911. It was one of the first buildings in the world to be constructed using reinforced concrete.
