5 Exhibitions In Liverpool You Must See This Summer!

Liverpool is bursting with art exhibitions this Summer! So we have given you a helping hand to decide what to see with our picks of the 5 Liverpool shows you must not miss!

1. Op Art in Focus

Victor Vasarely Zebra, 1937

It seems right to start with Op Art, a form that emerged in the 1960s at the time when Liverpool started it’s pop cultural boom! Come and boggle your retinas for free with this display of works featuring geometric lines and shapes that will fool the eye.  This show includes works from the likes of Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarley.  You must go! It’s on at the Tate!

2 Life In Motion: Egon Shiele/Francesa Woodman

Francesca Woodman

Show your companion the true art behind the selfie with this exhibition which pairs the works of self portraitists Francesca Woodman and Egon Schiel. Both immensely prolific artists in their short lives. See if you can spot the similarities in their work! Look it up at The Tate

3. Keith Haring

We are fans of Street Art so are delighted to see this pioneer of the movement and social activist get recognition with his first major UK exhibition! It features over 70 of his large paintings, drawings and sculptures which influenced the Hip Hop counterculture of his time.  You may be in Liverpool but this exhibition will surely transport you to the pop cultural vibrancy of 1980s New York! Check it!

4. Agnes Varda

Of course we will be at the Liverpool Biennale 2018 so we will be catching the 90 year old French New Wave legend Agnes Varda‘s video installation commission!

The visual artist and film-maker is the oldest ever Oscar nominee and ever playful she hilariously sent a cardboard cut out of herself to the nominees lunch! Pop down, its free!   Her instagram is a treat too!

5. Double Fantasy
