PopUp Painting’s artist of the week is team member Annie Dalton.
Annie Dalton is an illustrator, painter artist based in London.
Annie employs traditional techniques using a combination of pencil, watercolour and inks in her work. The artist’s personal illustrations predominantly depict imagery of animals interpreted with a healthy dose of subversive humour. However in her paintings and drawings Annie retains a more conceptual approach to creating her work.
Dalton is not limited to one method of making artwork and thus enjoys embracing an array of mediums and techniques.
Annie grew up drawing and consuming illustrated books, absorbing animated films and having adventures in the garden. Annie’s work is fed by her interests in 80’s films, folklore, literature, history, and mostly the natural world. Her influences are the ‘Golden Age’ illustrators.
She says ‘I am an Artist, Image maker, Picture creator, Visual image designer. Whatever you want to call it.’ See her website here – anniedaltonsart.com
