A Year in Review: PopUp Painting in 2017

Happy New Year from the PopUp Painting team!

2017 has been quite a year for us. We welcomed new members to the team, launched in new cities, and painted with more guests than ever before. Here are some highlights from the team.

We ran more events than ever before – up 25% from 2016

In 2017 we delivered more events than ever before – 300, up 25% from year prior. This was across public events, hen and birthday parties, and corporate events! This means we have now painted with well over 15,000 guests since our launch in 2013.

We reached over 3,000 likes on Facebook and launched our (not so) secret group

There’s more to life than likes on Facebook, followers on Twitter, or on Instagram. But we flew past the 3,000 likes mark on Facebook this year – and that can’t be a bad thing! We’re putting a lot of work and thought into our content for 2018 too – so stay tuned. Lots more how-tos, pieces on mental health and wellbeing, women in business, and more CHALLENGE VIDEOs. And if you’re not in our secret Facebook group (a hotspot special offers!) join here.

We launched in Manchester

We could not have been happier with our welcome to Manchester. In October we launched at Common Bar – and completely filled the room! From there we’ve been going from strength to strength – and are due to open in lots new spots around the city in the New Year. Liverpool coming soon, too! See our events in Manchester or sign up to our mailing list to find out about our next events in your city.

We ran an event in Parliament for the CPA

As a politico (and having recently completed a Masters in Political Economy!) this was possibly the coolest thing to have ever happened. We were invited to run a corporate event for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association this year (and they loved it). Wheeling our kit through Westminster Hall, where people like BARACK OBAMA had spoken, was pretty awesome.

We supported the Loving Vincent film release

Loving Vincent is the first of its kind – a feature length movie comprised entirely of oil paintings based on Van Gogh’s work. It delves into the mystery of his death, and is truly a feast for the eyes. We ran a ‘Paint Van Gogh’ session for one of the distributor’s press nights!

We were featured by the BBC

We couldn’t not talk about this! Sip and Paint is a global trend – with events running across America, the UK and even Dubai. As the market leader in the UK we had a reporter from the BBC, Suzanne Bearne, join us in Chelsea to find out about our events. Lots of interesting discussion and praise on Twitter followed. Have a read.

We partnered up with Classical PopUps to run a fantastic Christmas party at the Roundhouse

Our mission is all about bringing art out of the classroom and gallery, into the places where people meet on an everyday basis. All of our events are themed with music, to make our events immersive, too. Enter: Classical PopUps. This exciting musical start up works with some of the finest musicians in the country, bringing their talents out of the concert hall. On the 14th we partnered up at The Roundhouse for our end of year Christmas Party. Check out the photos here – and watch some footage!
