What is PopUp Painting?
PopUp Painting was founded in 2013 by three non-artists determined to Unleash Creativity. Our social painting events bring art out of the classroom and gallery, into the places people meet on an every day basis. We pop up in bars, restaurants and workplaces with themed social painting events – taking inspiration from the likes of Van Gogh, Monet and Banksy. You can find us right across London, Birmingham and (as of October 2017) Manchester.
Led by practicing artists
Each of our events are led by up and coming artists. They’ll guide you step by step through the advertised painting. Our team are experts in breaking down images into manageable steps, and helping you add your own expression to each piece. Meet the team, and make sure check out their fantastic work!
No experience needed
Since our launch in 2013 we’ve met and painted with over 15,000 guests. The overwhelming majority of them have had no art experience at all. Our guests are often young professionals looking for something different to do on a night out. So many jobs nowadays involve looking at a computer screen all day. Sitting in front of a canvas with a wine glass in one hand and a paintbrush in the other is a real difference! Our artists are expert at guiding you step by step, so no experience is necessary to enjoy. (And if you have got a tonne of experience, we heartily encourage going off piste!)
“Wow. I didn’t know I could do that!”
One of our favourite things at any event is hearing people say at the end “Wow. I didn’t know I could do that!”. We really believe that with a little bit of guidance and encouragement, anyone can unleash their creativity and create a painting they can be proud of. And even though we theme our events around particular pieces, everybody’s paintings carry their own unique touches. The perfect event to show off to your friends or a date night!
Public and private events
We run 30+ public events each month in bars and restaurants across London, Birmingham and Manchester. In addition, we also offer private parties. Our events are ideal for corporate away days and team building, fundraising, or even for a hen or stag do! We can personalise the event to you. You can pick the painting. And we can host at one of our partner venues or at your place!
