Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French artist born in 1841 and was one of the leading painters of the Impressionist group. He used a mixture of broken brushstrokes and complimentary bright colours to capture the light and movement depicted in his paintings. His work usually depicts pleasurable and happy scenes and reportedly said that “if painting were not a pleasure to me I should certainly not do it“.
Join PopUp Painting on 4th October at Le Pain Quotidien, Chiswick for Paint The French Impressionists: Renoir! PopUp Painting events are social painting experiences; making art accessible so that everyone can have fun unleashing their creativity. The painting for the night will be Renoir’s The Skiff – but you’re free to paint whatever you like! As Renoir said: painting should be for pleasure!
