PopUp Painting’s ‘artist of the week’ is Lucille Clerc.
Lucille Clerc is a French illustrator based in East London.
The artist works predominately in editorial design and illustration, though Clerc has been known to work with interior design and installation also. Cleric create much of her work using the screen printing process.
Lucille Clerc’s work ranges from personal work to commercial projects. The artist has worked with many high-end clients such as Winsor&Newton, the V&A Museum, Berluti, Sandro and Fortnum&Mason and it is quite likely that you have come across her designs on packaging of luxury products. Clerc’s style has a whimsical feel to it. The artist creates exquisitely intricate scenes that juxtapose imagery, leaving visual surprises along the way. The uses of delicate lines and muted colours hint at a vintage influence in the artist’s work.
Clerc graduated from Central Saint Martins with an MA in Communication Design and ENSAAMA in Paris with a DSAA in Visual Communication.
The artist is a member of London Print Club in Dalston and has shown her work both nationally and internationally.
