Interviewing Miguel Galue!

Interviewing Miguel Galue!

PopUp Painting events are led by local artists who are experts not just in their trade, but in entertainment and organisational development. In addition, they are supported by a team with expertise in management, innovation and training. PopUp Painting’s team includes 14 artist, and today we have interviewed Miguel Galue.

1. Introduce yourself; Who are you and what do you do?

I am a London-based Venezuelan artist. My work is mainly focused on the Figure and its movement through time, space and emotions. It ranges in execution from watercolours to ceramics. I am currently focusing on charcoal and paper.

2. What is your background in art?

I guess I could be considered an outsider, as I never had formal training. I studied Architecture in my native Venezuela and in the US, but it was always the physical act of drawing and model-making that did it for me. Aside from that, Music Videos, Illustrated books and Cinema were an early influence.

3. What materials/process do you use, to create your art?

I use anything I can get my hands on. I have actually worked with flip flops and milk bottles from a recycle skip! Drawing is my first and foremost medium, and I usually use Conte Crayons on paper.

4. If you could become one of your characters/works of art, which would you choose? Why?

I would be a cloud in any of my landscapes…just drift and see the world from above.

5. What is / was your most favourite piece completed so far?

I’m really satisfied with my recent sketches as a series, but I hope my best work is still ahead!

6. Name and artist you would like to be compared to.

Jimmi Hendrix

7. If you could pop up and paint anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I would love to do Pop Up Painting in Moscow. I would like to see their approach, from their cultural perspective.

8. Just for fun. What would be your super power and why?

See the future up to 24 hours ahead: far enough to see lottery numbers but not too far!
