selfie
ˈsɛlfi/
noun
informal
plural noun: selfies
- A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
Selfies have taken over the world! I have been guilty of them, your friend has been guilty of them and probably so has your grandparents!
A selfie is typically taken with a digital camera or camera phone held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick. The selfie stick…Revolutionised the selfie. 😆 Once all the filters have be added and it looks completely different to the original photo, up on social media it goes. They are everywhere on social media. We can’t get away from them.
However where would we be today without a camera on our phone? Probably depressed huddled in a corner crying, wondering what to do with ourselves. Selfies has enabled us to capture our moments and share it with the world. That instant glance into someone’s life connects each human on a much wider scale than previous forms of communications has allowed. It is for this reason only that makes selfies + social media great for promotion!
At PopUp Painting we have had many selfies through our doors. Two people on a date, friends on a night out, party groups, all ready to capture that moment of when they created their masterpiece. Some of our themed events include painting selfies just like Frida Kahlo and Picasso’s girlfriend and just like any other camera savvy person out there, we do upload all of our events to our social networks.
Our Facebook and Twitter feeds are updated every week with Artist and photos from all of our events. If you attended an event you will be there! Be sure to tag yourself and share your pictures to the world. Not forgetting your own pictures taken on the night, we would love to see them all our hashtag is #popuppainting. Type that into Instagram and be sure to find loads of smiling selfies (pictured below) with a wine glass in one hand and a paint brush in the other. Selfies at PopUp Painting are always welcome.
