New Street Art Event! New Camden Venue!

New Street Art Event! New Camden Venue!

I spy with my little eye… Street Art everywhere!

London has become one of the most pro-graffiti cities in the world. Street art has a huge following and in many ways is embraced by the public. PopUp Painting are capturing what is unique about Graffiti and offering a raw experience. On the 29th June down the ‘Banksy tunnel’ near Waterloo, you can fully appreciate tagging your name on the wall whilst being fully immersed in your surroundings, embracing the daringness of what it’s like to be a graffiti artist.

Street art is a visual art form, created in public locations, usually unauthorized artwork executed outside of the context of traditional art venues. Much of what can now be defined as modern street art has well-documented origins dating from New York City’s graffiti boom, with its infancy in the 1960s, maturing in the 1970s, and peaking with the spray painted full-car subway train murals of the 1980s centred in the Bronx

Graffiti art/Street art continues today, in London and worldwide following incarnations of  Stencil graffiti, wheat pasted poster art or sticker art, and street installation or sculpture. Often motivated by a preference on the part of the artist to communicate directly with the public at large, free from perceived confines of the formal art world.  Street artists sometimes present socially relevant content infused with aesthetic value, to attract attention to a cause or as a form of “art provocation”

One well know artist at work today, and a much loved here at PopUp Painting is Banksy. Who draws attention to his work by being a political activist. His satirical street art combines dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. Maid in London for example happens to be PopUp Paintings first Banksy event at the Roundhouse in Camden on the 22nd July. Maid in London is partially about democratizing subjects in art. Banksy has said about it, that it used to be just popes, kings, queens, that could afford a portrait painted, and so he chose a maid.

Fancy yourself a tour of street art or just standing on the side capturing it with your fancy cameras…? Boring!

How about booking your event with us! At the tunnel embracing the art form with pure joy or at the Roundhouse!
