What is Op Art?

Artists have been intrigued by the nature of perception for centuries. In the 1950s this obsession blossomed into a movement. Op, or Optical, art typically employs abstract patterns composed with a stark contrast of foreground and background, often in black and white for maximum contrast, to produce effects that confuse and excite the eye. Op Art […]

Testimonials

Last year I hosted a PopUp Painting charity event that proved to be very popular and a conversation topic for months to come. This year, two friends and I were challenged to raise £300 from £30 by our community choir for their charity - We See Hope. It was a no-brainer that PopUp Painting would be the choice for our fundrasing evening. Last year's "newbies" returned with their friends and family and, with Kieran's help, 39 of us painted "STARRY NIGHT." Laughter filled the room as, once again, a joyful evening unfolded and works of art evolved. With the help of the PopUp Painting team we raised an amazing £600!

This was a wonderful team building experience, which allowed us to explore strategic issues in a more creative, rather than cognitive manner. A really useful and enjoyable afternoon, thank you!

We arranged PopUp Painting for approx. 40 staff as a surprise. All staff were really excited walking into the room filled with easels! The whole event was easy to book, very well organised, excellent fun and surprisingly, even the least creative of us came away with a picture that resembled the original. Throughout the event, the professional artists gave great instructions, were helpful, patient and joined in the fun.

Phyllissa and her team were brilliant. They come in and set up in record time, have a great range of themes to choose from. I've enjoyed the Van Gogh and Banksy events and loved every minute. It's so much fun to compare your art work with your group of friends. They ran a hen do for me and it was brilliant. It's a laid back, informal environment and you get to learn some handy painting tips! I'll definitely be going again. Thanks guys!
